**Location:** Cape Town
**Organisation:** The Brewmistress · African Beer Cup · BeerEx Africa

Lucy Corne is a Cape Town-based freelance beer, food and travel writer, educator, international beer judge and the voice behind The Brewmistress. She was the first person in Africa to qualify as a Certified Cicerone and later became the continent’s first Advanced Cicerone. She co-founded the African Beer Cup, serves as its competition director, is a partner and organiser at BeerEx Africa, and runs South African National Beer Day. She is currently researching Beer Safari: A Guide to the Breweries of Africa, due to be published by Penguin Random House in late 2027.

Beer Safari will be a 256-page guide to the stories, beers and atmosphere of craft breweries across Africa, combining the usefulness of a travel guide with the visual character of a coffee-table book. An initial print run of 3,000 copies is planned. Research is underway across the continent, with the manuscript due at the end of 2026. Lucy is visiting as many breweries as possible in person and is running a crowdfunding campaign to help cover research travel and photography not funded by the publisher. Corporate sponsorship packages are also available.
